The Imposter Arrives
Starting at RapDev and getting to know everyone who does what, who’s great at what, and how everything fits together took me a little bit. During that time, I felt behind. I looked around and saw people who seemed like super geniuses. Engineers who could create solutions on the fly, automate anything, and explain complex observability challenges as if it were second nature. Meanwhile, I was still trying to find my footing. Then the thought crept in. I’m “the Imposter”!
I wondered how I ended up here. Why was I chosen to work at RapDev when it felt like so many others could do my job? The long and complicated answer would take years to unpack. However, the only correct answer is simple: I am here, and I am willing to learn!
Engineering Is About Learning, Not Knowing

Technology moves way too fast for that. New tools emerge, platforms evolve, and best practices shift constantly. What matters isn’t having every answer; it’s being willing to explore, experiment, and grow. Sometimes finding the answer is part of the fun.
A Culture Built for Curiosity
At RapDev, learning isn’t just encouraged. It’s part of the culture. We help customers navigate observability, automation, and distributed environments, and that landscape is constantly evolving. To deliver real value, we have to stay curious. We have to explore new features, experiment with emerging technologies, and continuously refine how we approach problems.
What’s Actually Expected of You
We aren’t expected to know everything. No one does. What’s expected of us is the willingness to dig in, figure things out, and find the right answers. More importantly, we’re expected to understand how those answers create impact. We need to see how they strengthen our team, improve our solutions, and help our customers move closer to their goals.
Learning That Actually Sticks
Learning here isn’t about memorizing documentation or chasing certifications for the sake of it. It’s about building the ability to adapt. It’s about developing the confidence to say, “I don’t know yet, but don’t worry, I’ll find out.” Once we do, we share that knowledge so others can move faster and smarter.
From Individual to Trusted Advisor
This mindset of curiosity, persistence, and collaboration is what turns individuals into strong engineers and teams into trusted advisors for our customers. At RapDev, being a real engineer isn’t about knowing everything. It’s about never stopping the pursuit of learning.
If you're someone who's curious, driven, and not afraid to say "I don't know yet," you might be exactly who we're looking for. Explore open roles at RapDev and see where your learning journey could take you.
